INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. In a large skillet or pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it up into crumbles as it cooks. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the cooked ground beef. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the onion is softened and translucent.
  3. Stir in the uncooked macaroni or pasta, beef broth, milk, diced tomatoes (with their juices), and tomato paste. Mix well to combine.
  4. Add the paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, salt, and pepper to the skillet, stirring to evenly distribute the seasonings throughout the mixture.
  5. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until the pasta is cooked through and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
  6. Once the pasta is cooked, remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  7. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed, adding more salt and pepper if desired.
  8. Garnish the Homemade Hamburger Helper with chopped fresh parsley for a pop of color and freshness, if desired.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy the comforting goodness of this homemade twist on a classic favorite!
